The 150 HighMax High Output CFL's by Maxlite are a direct replacement for 250 / 400 watt Metal Halide or Pulse Start lamps. Simply bypass the ballast (instructions included with lamp) and screw into existing fixture. Note: In hotter applications, it is recommended to have vented fixture housings to release hot air. If fixture is not vented, drilling holes in the housing is a common venting technique.
